Marimekko for H & M

Marimekko is always amazing! I have even gone so far as to make my own Marimekko dress, and that takes dedication. For those of you living under a fashion rock, Marimekko is a Finnish fashion house that has made significant contributions to fashions especially in the 70's but has been reemerging lately as stronger than ever. Marimekko was made famous back in the day when Jackie Kennedy sported several of the vibrantly designed dresses during the 1960 Presidential Campaign. Anyway, Marimekko has licenced several of their archived patterns to H & M for their Summer 2008 collection. This is particularly exciting because Marimekko usually doesn't re-release the archived patterns and in my opinion they are really some of the best. I can't wait to see the designs in person.

Lilith's Apothecary

Sarah Powell from Lilith's Apothecary explains that she is trained as a medical anthropologist and now as an herbalist. Sarah feels that she has always been on a singular path to understand healing and the needs of the human spirit. Lilith's goal is to help enrich the lives of others by creating formulations from plants, minerals, and other organic matter that aid in healing both the body & spirit.

Lilith's Apothecary features a variety of handmade organic teas, facial cleansers, creams and balms to name a few. The prices are extremely reasonable, almost everything is under $20!

Madewell 1937

Back in 2006 J. Crew launched a new brand Madewell 1937; the target customer is an 18-25 female, thus the prices are a bit lower. Anyway, initially the feel was very J.Crew reminiscent....similar styling, similar feel. However Madewell's Spring 2008 collection has really made a departure from the earlier styles. They haven't launched an e-commerce platform and if you don't live near one of their seven stores you are basically SOL unless you want to call and order, but from the looks of it, it may just be worth it....

California Organic Flowers

California Organic Flowers is a lovely little company I came across that has the most beautiful organic dahlia's. You can order a party pack 0f 12 bunches with 10 stems for $245.95!! This would be a great alternative to a florist for an eco-friendly wedding.

Jovovich-Hawk for Target Review

I was cautiously optimistic for the arrival the latest addition to the Target Go Collection, Jovovich-Hawk, not because of the designers but because of so much disappointment with Target's execution of these collections previously. They have chosen so many lovely designers, but it never fails I see the images on-line, get all excited then got to the store and become completely disappointed with the line in person. Today was different, when I went to Target this morning and was very happy with what I found. The quality of the fabric was not the best but not bad, and the fit of everything was fantastic! The designs were nice, and overall I would give it a B+. However if you are interested, go now because they are already starting to run out of the smaller sizes in the stores! I purchased this lovely number for myself. Check out the entire collection here.
