Camouflaging Crates

There has been a lot of buzz around Rachel Zoe's collection for QVC. Above is a sneak peak courtesy of InStyle. From what I hear the vest is faux fur, which makes it a must have it my closet. Prices range from $30-$130 and it debuts live on Saturday, September 12th @ 8:00 p.m. EST. QVC usually puts these collections on their website shortly after the TV debut (if not the same time) so check their site as well.

Kevin O'Brien Sample Sale & PAWS

Kevin O'Brien supplies his luxurious designs to some of the most fashion forward retailers out there (ABC Carpet & Home, Anthropologie, Barneys to name a few). His work is amazing and so is the quality. Well, good news! Kevin O'Brien Studios is having a sample sale next week and 15% of the proceeds are going to PAWS (Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society). The sale runs September 10th & 11th, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and September 12th, 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Here is a link to the sale location in Philly and some additional information. Happy shopping!

Free People has been known for their colorful, eclectic and sometimes folkloric designs. I say this in the past tense because their new looks have a unexpected edge that I'm loving! I love the departure from florals and the incorporation of darker hues and structured silhouettes.

Delco SPCA

Spent the day today with some furry friends at the Delco SPCA. There are so many unwanted animals at the shelter all with wonderful personalities. After so many years of volunteering with these animals, it still shocks me that people can treat their pets as disposable. If you are looking for an animal, I encourage you to visit your local shelter or animal rescue and adopt. If you aren't looking for a pet, please donate the shelter is really in need right now and every little bit helps. I stumbled on this dress (featured top) today in Anthropologie and its super cute, but the price tag is a little high at $128. After heading back home without the dress, I hopped online and put together my own version for much less using American Apparel items.

I'm channeling Rachel Zoe with this post here, by the way so excited that her show is back although I'm starting to get the feeling that everyone in her "office" is just a big spaz (something I know about all too well). Nevertheless, say what you will about her the girl has great style. This vest is a nice faux alternative similar to the versions Rachel is often seen wearing and it's only $60. Philly Fashion Week

Exciting news Philly fans, October 8- 10th 2009, Philadelphia will host it's own Fashion Week! The event organizers have already confirmed 11 fabulous designers and hopefully more to come. This event is especially exciting because on the schedule is the best of student designs from local colleges. I am so excited to see all of these aspiring designers showcased at one event. I introduce to you the captain crunch doughnut. Sadly (and maybe its a good thing for my diet) Voodoo Doughnut the mastermind(s) behind this lovely delectable is all the way in Portland, Oregon. They also perform weddings on the premises, no joke.

Free People & Paws

I love this! Two of my favorites teaming up. Free People just dropped their August 2009 catalog and featured throughout the pages are some fabulous furry friends from PAWS (Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society).What a unique platform to incorporate such a great cause. There are so many homeless animals in our country, if you have it in your heart to welcome one of these animals into your life you won't regret it. Oh, and you can wear this fab cable pullover from FP (shown above) while you are walking your furry friend around town.

Bug off naturally

So I have a problem with bugs, not an infestation, just an overall dislike for getting attacked by them. I also have a problem with dousing myself in pesticides that keep the bugs away, so what to do? I was reminded this morning courtesy of Daily Candy that one of my favorite soap stores, Duross and Langel makes a fab Bug Off bug repellent. It comes in a sort of deodorant dispenser type container, but is made of all natural products which is better for you and the environment. It's only $7.95 and you can purchase it here or swing by Duross and Langel at 117 South 13th Street. By the way there is a great little gelato place next door called Capogiro where you can get an amazing dish of fresh made gelato and they often incorporate local ingredients in their recipes.

Hello there

My apologies for being such a bad blogger, so much for a summer of blogging and now that my real job is "in season" things are getting even crazier for me. Anyway, lots to talk about and I promise to try and keep up with my posting.

1. Firstly one of my favorite young bloggers Jane from Sea of Shoes has designed a line of shoes of Urban Outfitters, I am in love with these boots.
2. If you are on the market for a end of season swimsuit, Victoria's Secret is having one heck of a sale (you can get an adorable bikini for under $30 and that's including shipping).
3. The new 2010 Ikea catalog is out, and people always seem to be very passionate about Ikea (both positive and negative). Whether you love or hate Ikea, you can't help but take some design inspiration out of the catalog. Apartment Therapy had a great post on it the other day and you can also view the new catalog online.
